Reverend Evelyn Staton

Reverend Evelyn D. Staton was born again at age 12 from the mourner’s bench.  She is married to Weldon Staton and they have two adult sons: Marque (“Mark”) Staton and Willie Dixon, Jr.
Having attended public schools in Craven County, North Carolina, this sharecropper’s daughter continued her education at Elizabeth City State University where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and at Hampton University where she received her Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling.  Not only did Rev. Staton continue her studies at The American University in Washington D.C., she also attained her Real Estate Brokers’ License and the Graduate Realtor’ Institute Designation.
Among her other current affiliations are the National Association of University Women, Hampton Branch (vice president), and National Association of the Board of Realtors.
From July 2010 – October 11, 2014, Rev. Staton served as an associate minister at Cary’s.  In rendering service in the name of Jesus, she has delivered messages from God to audiences in East Africa, New York, Washington, D.C., Virginia and North Carolina for many years.  She has also served as the Guest Sunday School Teacher at the Men’s Star Bible Class of Newport News, Sunday School Teacher for Radio 1270 WTBZ, and Missionary to Nairobi, Kenya for the past seven years.
On October 12, 2014, Rev. Staton was ordained at Cary’s by Rev. Rex D. Ellis.  While her experiences have been vast, Rev. Staton believes that, “None of these things have moved me for I am a child of God and do count everything else but as nothing for the excellency of the knowledge of My Lord Jesus Christ.  I yearn to know more about Him who loves me.  So in my mess, I must cry aloud and spare not.”
Favorite Verse:  But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.                                                               -Matthew 6:33
